On March 12, the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) released the final decision on the Hydro One electricity distribution rate proposal EB-2013-0416/EB-2014-0247.

A significant part of this decision was the elimination of the "Seasonal Class" of customer. Many questions still remain about specific customer impacts.

FOCA has posted initial remarks and a summary here:

On 30 June 2014 the OMB issued a decision ordering the Minister to issue a quarry licence. This licence will be subject to prescribed conditions already outlined by the Minister. Based on the evidence presented by objectors, the OMB has added several new conditions.

CLCA concern that Clear Lake Rd was unsuitable for heavy haulage was refuted by the Municipality of West Nipissing, but the Public Works Manager did promise to look into roadway deficiencies north of the pit entrance in consultation with CLCA. The OMB accepted testimony presented by the municipality over the evidence presented by CLCA, but Denmar will be required to construct a second pit entrance to address CLCA concerns. The OMB decision suggests the final decision was based on a trust that West Nipissing will meet with CLCA and follow through on the promises that were offered during the hearing. CLCA has sought a meeting with the municipality in that regard. The entire OMB decision (MM120034) may be reviewed on-line at http://www.omb.gov.on.ca/english/eDecisions/eDecisions.html or by viewing the documents below.
