Beginning 2021 a call out was made for stories from families around lake. The idea was for folks new and old to learn these stories, to strengthen comradeship, in turn preserving the lake for all life, wild and domestic. To build a common respect for this place we love. This is a community, not just a cottage surround by strangers.
With the approval of the membership we began our journey to document some sort of history to share with all.
Not knowing exactly what we would do with it all in the end, but knowing it would be interesting to discover past stories from around the lake, first families that built cottages, anything really, from families of passed (or past) members.
Capturing these stories began with in-person interviews of “old-timers” from around the lake. Shared photos, journals and family folklore was then gathered and compiled into this “living” document we’ve published on our website. We anticipate that this will be updated and encourage those that have stories and photos to share to reach out to us.
Thank you to all that have shared resources and your families stories. We are grateful.
We are creating tomorrow’s history now.
The History Project is now live for all to explore.
